Spoilers.
When I finished the Siren games, I thought alot about what Datatsushi and the ancients actually was. It is likley that the games got some inspiration from the cthulhu mythos, but I believe they also got some inspiration from another place: the legend of the Anunnaki. When battling Mother you get the Anunnaki remains which does great damage to her. So one day I heard some guys at my school talk about the 2012 doomsday event, and I did some reading and saw the word Anunnaki. Then I went reading about the legend and discovered that it had many similarities to the plot of Siren, like aliens, spaceships and gods. Anyway, I want to show you my theory about the gods in Siren.
Im not going to explain too much about the real legend. If you are interested just type Anunnaki on google or something. But to make it short: God creates universe, aliens create life and other things, aliens fight, humanity is created. Some god separated heaven and earth and there was two gods who fought for leadership. The legend has many versions so I might be wrong somewhere. Anyway, it seems like humans were created to do tasks the aliens assigned to them. (mining and stuff.) When humans began to question why they couldn`t be gods too, a fight started between two of the anunnaki. One ment that humans should be equal to them, and the other ment they shouldn`t. (of course).
Like the siren games, the anunnaki legends deals with the bible. The garden of Eden was some sort of experiment facility where humans were created. The reason they had to work was because they took the fruit and had to pay back or something. (like Hisako. She has to pay back the flesh she took. The ``fruit``.)
Now, here I am going to explain how I think this fits into the Siren universe:
The Anunnaki had their own civilization. They used planets to get resources. I dont know if our dimension and theirs were one at that time or if they got separated later but whatever. The Anunnaki discovered a planet much richer with materials than any other they had seen. Earth. They settled down and began to work. (the real legend says that they were looking for gold, as it contained valuable power. Atlantis is also mentioned as a base. The golden Osho obtained in Siren 2 is said to have its origins in Atlantis, and is perhaps the reason that Soji managed to escape)
Anunnaki are not gods. They are powerful beings with the power to alter time and space. They took a fishlike form and probably had a glowing apperance. (Mothers scale glows with a soft light) But like any race they also had their issues. A high ranked Anunnaki (which I will call Uri) got into trouble with some of his own kind. These other Anunnaki had a much darker nature and took Earth for their own purposees. These ``darklings`` had a leader.
In response, Uri created light which killed most of the darklings including the leader. The UMA fossil makes shu remember something Kanae said:
``The ruler died. My Mommy was born. Lots of them were born.``
Mother and Otoshigo was born. The Annaki sword says: Big heavenly fish Die, All bones Dust, Small Many fish born.) Otoshigo escaped underwater and Mother was sealed away underground by Uri. (perhaps he created the seven keys. The song to open them was probably created by humans based on instructions from Uri. I will get back to them later)
The war had made Uri victorious, but for some reason he created humans to watch over earth. Perhaps the darklings had an important role that had to be replaced. Sometimes later he came back and warned the humans of mother and her plans to get free. The darklings developed a hatred for humans for taking their role. They had their own dimesion, but they wanted to exist on the real earth, as it was originally theirs.
I dont think The Ancients are true Anunnaki, as they are hideously deformed. Something went wrong at birth, or it is a side effect for living in darkness all those centuries. The Siren games keeps mentioning heavenly fishes. I think that Datatsuhi is a true Anunnaki as his original form really looks like one. Hiruko was another Anunnaki who went on a trip to Hanuda. (Although, his intensions was not as dark as Datats. Hirukos parents are also mentioned, suggesting that there are more Anunnakis today) On to Hanuda:
Alot of years later. Datatsushi got on the wrong terms with Uri. Datat was was one of the Anunnaki who believed in the darker ways and that earth should be used the ``right`` way. I dont know if he was banished from the Anunnaki dimesion or if he left willingly but Datatsushi means Fallen Angel, so it is likley that he was ``thrown out`` for not believeing in Uris ways. However, before he left he somehow managed to steal some of Uris power. (this would later become the Uryens. Note that their Light can destroy shibitos/darklings permanently.) Datatsushi also travels in a spaceship, which points out more similarities between the legend and the games.
He traveled to earth but something went wrong. (Uri?) He crashed and you know the rest of the story.
Well, thats pretty much it. I kinda like the idea that they are not gods, but have just evolved differently somewhere, and appear godlike to humans.
Anyway, I would really like some responses to my theory.
Im also wondering who the anonymous being who gives Akiko the tree branch is. And, how much power does Uri have? Wouldn`t it had been alot easier to just deal with Datatsushi himself instead of letting Kyoya do all the work? And is it over? I really think that the end of Siren 2 wasn`t a very happy one. Yorito is in the yamibito dimension and it appears like Ikuko got her body snatched by Mother.
If they make Forbidden Siren 3 Il hope that they will use the original Siren universe. Blood Curse was fun, but 2 don`t need a remake.
